Every marketplace admin has the option to create discounts on their Vendo-powered marketplace. Admins can configure the type of discount according to two factors:
Discount funding
Discount funding refers to who will cover the cost of the created discount. Discount funding is defined in the first steps of discount creation and cannot be changed later.
Currently, Vendo-powered marketplaces can introduce:
marketplace funded discounts
partner funded discounts
Marketplace-funded discounts are ones that are paid by the marketplace, i.e., the funds are taken from (and capped to) the marketplace's commission (set on the partner level). The admin can apply all discount rules to marketplace-funded discounts and can use the following discount actions:
free shipping
create line items
create whole order adjustments
Partner-funded discounts are completely covered by the partners of the marketplace and can use the following discount actions:
free shipping
creating line items
creating per-line-item adjustments
Discount Kinds
Vendo offers two kinds of discounts, regardless of who is funding them:
Discount codes
Creating a discount with a discount code will always require the visitor to enter a pre-defined code during checkout to apply the discount to the order.
Additionally, Vendo enables admin to:
Create a single discount code, e.g., to create a delayed shipment compensation code that can be used for free express delivery with the next order.
Generate unique discount codes in bulk, e.g., to generate 1000 random, one-time use codes for influencers.
Automatic discounts
Creating an automatic discount means that the store visitor does not need to apply any code on the checkout once pre-defined discount settings (e.g., start & expiration date, limit usage) or rules (e.g., minimum spent, first order) are met.
