How Gift Cards Work on Vendo
Vendo's Gift Card feature function similarly to regular payment methods during checkout, offering customers a seamless way to use their gift card balance to purchase products from your platform. You can generate gift card codes in bulk.
Note that Gift cards are enabled only for Marketplaces on Enterprise Plan.
How to Generate Gift Cards in Bulk
Generating gift cards in bulk on Vendo is a straightforward process that enables you to manage and distribute these cards efficiently. Here's a step-by-step guide:
Log in to Your Vendo Account: Access your Vendo marketplace operator account.
Navigate to the Gift Card Section: Find the "Gift Cards" section under "Discounts" on the side panel in your dashboard.
Choose Bulk Generation: Click on the "add a new gift card" button, and select the option for "A batch of gift cards."
Setup a batch: Now you can specify the details. You can select the prefix for all the codes, the amount of funds added to each card, the number of gift cards you want to generate, and the expiry date.
You can also add a minimal order amount that is eligible for gift card use.
Create a batch: To finish the process, click the create button. You will be redirected to the list of codes. Notice that the newly created codes are at the top of the list.
Export the codes: To export the codes, you can use the filter option and export all displayed codes. The codes will be saved as a CSV.
How do gift cards work for customers?
Using a gift card as a payment method during checkout on Vendo is a simple and hassle-free process. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you navigate the process:
Shopping: Browse the products on the Vendo marketplace and add your desired items to your cart.
Proceed to Checkout: Once you've added all the items you want to purchase, click the "Checkout" button to initiate the checkout process.
Summary Section: On the right-hand side of the checkout page, you'll find a summary of your order. This section includes a breakdown of your cart items, their prices, and the total amount due.
Apply Gift Card Code: Underneath the order summary, there will be an option to "Add promo code." It contains a field where you can enter your unique gift card code.
Enter Gift Card Code: Carefully input or copy the gift card code exactly as it was created.
Apply Gift Card: After entering the gift card code, click on the "Apply" button. The system will validate the code and, if valid, apply the gift card balance to your order.
Automatic Deduction: Upon successful validation, the gift card balance will automatically be deducted from the due total. You'll see the updated total reflecting the reduced price.
Complete the Purchase: Review your order to ensure accuracy and make any necessary adjustments. If everything looks good, proceed to the payment section to finalize your purchase.
Payment Method: Select your preferred payment method to cover any remaining balance the gift card didn't fully cover. This could be a credit/debit card or other payment method accepted on the platform.
Note that gift cards can cover the entire order. No extra payment is required if it is the case.
Place Order: Once you've chosen your payment method and reviewed your order details, click the "Place Order" or "Pay now" button (depending on whether additional charge is needed) to finalize your transaction.
How to manage gift cards in Vendo Dashboard?
The Vendo platform provides features for managing gift cards, including filtering gift codes by name and status and tracking the amount of used credit.
You can see all of the generated codes in the "Gift Cards" section under "Discounts" on the header in your dashboard.
Codes are searchable, as well as filterable by their statuses:
active
expired
redeemed
You can also see the amount of store credits/gift cards used on each parent order:
You can clearly see the code used and how many credits are left after that purchase (balance).
Clicking on the "Gift Card details" button will redirect you to the gift card details screen.
You cannot edit used codes, but there are all the details about how much of the gift cars is already spent and by whom.
